Tur & Masur Tomato Dal |
1/2 cup
tur/arahar dal + 1/2 cup masur dal
1 tsp.
oil
1 pinch
turmeric powder
1 tsp.
Kashmiri mirch powder
2
onions, chopped
2
tomatoes, chopped
4 green
chilies, chopped or to taste
Lemon
size tamarind or 2 tsp. pulp
1 tsp.
ginger-garlic paste
1 stalk curry leaves, stem removed
Chopped cilantro
salt to taste
salt to taste
2 tsp.
ghee/vegetable oil
1 tsp.
mustard seeds
1/4 tsp.
jeera seeds
1/4 tsp.
asafoetida/hing
2 dry
red chilies
4
chopped garlic cloves
1 stalk
curry leaves, torn
Directions
- Wash dals thoroughly and soak in 3 cups water in pressure cooker for 20 minutes.
- Add next 10 ingredients, stir well and bring to a boil.
- Cover pressure cooker and cook for 20 minutes.
- Allow cooker to depressurize naturally, then remove cover.
- Heat ghee in a skillet and sputter remaining ingredients.
- Pour contents of skillet into dal in pressure cooker and bring to a boil.
- Remove from heat and garnish with cilantro.
Serve
with rice or chapatis.
