Htamin Laphet Thoke

Htamin Laphet Thoke

A cup of cooked long grain rice was mixed into Laphet Thoke for a sumptuous lunch. Tea Leaves Salad is a famous Burmese dish that is so easy to make. Once the ingredients are procured, all that is needed is for everything to be dumped into a bowl and mixed thoroughly by hand.

 Ingredients

From top left to right:

Crispy, crunchy beans (ordered online)
Sesame Oil
Planters unsalted peanuts
Jar of fermented and seasoned tea leaves

Clockwise in the center:
2 Tbsp. crispy, crunchy beans
1/2 onion, thinly sliced
2 Tbsp. unsalted peanuts
1/2 tomato, minced
2 Tbsp. deep fried onions and garlic
2 Tbsp. cilantro and green onions, minced
1/4 cabbage or Chinese cabbage, shredded
2 tsp. fermented and seasoned tea leaves

1 cup cooked long-grain rice

Directions:
  1. Add all ingredients to a big bowl and hand-mix thoroughly.
  2. Adjust salt to taste using fish sauce. Vegetarians/vegans may use soy sauce.
  3. Garnish with sesame seeds, pickled cucumber and green chilies.
Enjoy!
