This blog is dedicated to Mum, my greatest mentor. It is a compilation of simple recipes - Bengali, Indian, Burmese and Continental, among others. All of these recipes have been tested in my kitchen. Most use everyday ingredients found at your local market, but some use specialty ingredients available at Asian and/or Indian markets. Singapore Rice Noodles with Asparagus & Chicken

Ingredients:
1/2 gallon apple cider
6 cinnamon sticks
1/2 cup brown or coconut sugar
1 tsp. whole cloves
1 navel or 2 mandarin oranges, sliced
Directions:
- Place all ingredients in a large stainless steel saucepan.
- Bring to a boil and stir until sugar dissolves.
- Lower heat to medium and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Strain spiced cider and serve hot or chilled overnight in the refrigerator.
